Pairings set for holiday tourney


The pairings for the Crofton Holiday Basketball Tournament have been announced.
The first round is slated for December 29 with the Wausa girls playing the Wynot girls at 2 pm. They will be followed by the Wynot and Wausa boys at 4 pm. The evening session begins at 6 pm with the Crofton and Bon Homme (SD) girls playing, followed by the Bon Homme and Crofton boys meeting at 8.
The second day features the girls consolation at 2 pm, followed by the boys consolation game at 4, then the girls championship at 6 and the boys finals at 8.
Admission for the tournamnent is $4 for adults and $3 for students per day .

Matmen compete in quad, Osmond invite



The Crofton wrestling squad droppd a pair of dual matches as they ventured to Pender for quadrangular.

CHS girls improve to 4-1



The Crofton Lady Warriors improved their record to 4-1 as they bounced Creighton 61-28 in NENAC action on Friday, Dec. 17.
The Lady Warriors, who are 3-0 in conference play, will be off until Dec. 29 and 30 when they play in the Crofton Holiday Tournament. The Lady Warriors meet Bon Homme (SD) in the 6 pm game on the 29th.

Warriors split final two pre-holiday games



A split of their last two outings prior to the holiday break left the Crofton Warriors with a 3-2 record in the early part of the basketball season.
The Warriors knocked off Cedar Catholic 58-38 in non-conference play on Dec. 14, but then dropped a 45-40 decision to Creighton on Dec. 17. The Warriors will be involved in the Crofton Holiday Tournament, Dec. 29 and 30. The Warriors face Bon Homme at 8 pm in the first round.

Sheriff investigates Crofton house for burglary clues; suspect fire



On Dec. 17, at 10:30 am officers from four (4) jurisdictions, in two (2) states, served a search warrant on 1103 1st Street, in Crofton. The warrant was issued out of the Knox County Court. Officers from Yankton Co., Bon Homme County, SD, Knox County, and the Crofton Police Department were looking for evidence relating to over 20 burglaries committed during the past year in Bon Homme and Yankton Counties in South Dakota.

Lure of quiet rural living brought family, business to the area



It doesn’t seem like a place where a very active agricultural business would be booming, but appearances are decieving.
Southwest of Menominee, on a former ostrich and buffalo farm owned by Clarence Kast, is where a 7-year old business, Al Larson Distributing, Inc., is seeing growth.
Larson and his family, wife Debby and daughter Maddie, moved to the quiet, peaceful way of country living this past June. They lived in Omaha for years but Debby knew someday she wanted to live in the rural area like when she was young growing up on her family’s farm – the Adolph Kruses of Verdigre.

Basketball, mat seasons opens



The Crofton High basketball and wrestling seasons will begin this weekend.
The Crofton girls basketball squad will get things rolling when they travel to Hartington tonight (Dec. 2) for a game against Cedar Catholic. Game time is 6:15 for the JV with the varsity game to follow.

Shooting incident at rural home being investigted



On Saturday, Nov. 27, a report was received of a shooting incident at the residence of Roger and Joann Sprakel, who live north of Crofton on Highway 121 2.5 miles of Crofton.
