Golfers sixth at huge Wayne tourney
The Crofton girls golf team shot a 437, placing sixth at the Wayne High - Richard Metteer Golf Tournament on Thursday, Sept. 23. Norfolk Catholic won the meet with 388. There were 19 teams entered. Freshman Dana Merkel collected a fourth place medal by shooting a 91 over 18 holes. The other CHS golfers were Sarah Leader, 108; Jill Wiebelhaus, 112; Jana Schieffer, 133,; and Amanda Kube, 126. The Lady Warriors will travel to Wakefield today (Sept. 30) for a quadrangular at 4 pm.

Nebraska high school students participate in UNMC Health Professions Career Day



The University of Nebraska Medical Center held its eighth Rural Health Professions Career Day recently. The event, also sponsored by the Rural Health Education Net-work and the Student Association for Rural Health, introduced students to the health professions.

Brinkmeyer to perform at rural Crofton church



Singer/songwriter Karyn Brink-meyer will be ministering in song and testimony at Glad Tidings Bible Camp on October 2 at 7 pm. The camp is located 7 miles west of Crofton on Highway 12 and 2 1/2 miles north on 544 Ave.

Let’s get things tuned up for Homecoming



Turn it on and get it tuned, because it’s time to get ready for Crofton High School’s annual Homecoming festivities.
Homecoming Week at CHS will take place next week, October 4-8.The theme for this year’s celebration is “TV Land,” old-time television programs (how ever you interpret “old time”).

Crofton High Sports Results



Golfers finish fourth
The Crofton girls golf team placed 4th in the Pierce Invitational golf meet on Saturday, Sept. 11. The Lady Warriors carded a team score of 400 to finished behind Norfolk Catholic 379, Boone Central 380, and Wayne 396. There were 15 teams in the meet.

School board delays action on youth football plans

200 Years Later -- Private George Shannon is lost again



Captain Lewis (also known as Captain Scott Mandrill) and Sgt. Major Pope of the Army National Guard were flying a reconnaissance pattern over the Lynch - Bristow area in a Blackhawk helicopter on Tuesday afternoon, August 31.
They were searching for Private George Shannon, from Discovery Expedition of St. Charles, who is trying his best to follow in the footsteps of his famous ancestor and get lost in northeast Nebraska for 16 days.

Football team opens season with win



“We had several question marks answered very favorably,” was the comment of Crofton head football coach Tony Hoffman following his team’s 29-12 win over Battle Creek on Friday, Sept. 3.
The 1-0 Warriors open the home season this Friday night at 7 pm when Boone Central (1-0) comes to town.

City alters investment procedures to alleviate potential shortfalls



The Crofton city council, during its Monday, Sept. 5 meeting, decided to follow the advice of the city clerk and shift its procedure in re-investing money in order to have cash available for any future shortfalls of tax revenues.
