School board gathers for monthly meeting



The Crofton School Board of Education listened to a letter from the Crofton Education Association (CEA) dated Jan. 13, read by superintendent Randy Anderson at the Monday, Feb. 14 meeting.
The board approved a motion to recognize the CEA as the bargaining entity when considering contract renewal for all the teachers employed by Crofton Community Schools.

Warriors split a pair of games



The Crofton boys basketball team saw big margins on opposite ends of their two games this past week, and they saw differing results because of them.
The Warriors were outscored 20-8 in the fourth quarter of their 57-41 loss to Randolph on Friday, Feb. 11 but then the Warriors used a 27-7 first quarter burst to jumpstart their 85-45 victory over Pender one night later.

Speech team gets busy with winning



The Crofton speech team had a busy two days last week, competing in two meets on consecutive days, but the CHS speakers still were able to bring home a bevy of honors.
The Crofton speakers competed in the Lutheran High Northeast meet on Friday, Feb. 11 and then traveled to Plainview on Saturday. The team has a similar schedule this week as they will head for Creighton and its invitational on Friday, Feb. 18 and then compete in their own Crofton Invitational on Saturday, Feb. 19. The Crofton invite is open to the public. It starts at 9 am with 11 area schools competing.

Wrestlers headed for State tournament



Two members of the Crofton wrestling team qualified to compete in the State Class C Wrestling Meet on Feb. 17-19 in Lincoln.

Crofton girls knock off Norfolk Catholic



The Crofton girls basketball team rounded out a solid regular season by knocking off district rival Norfolk Catholic and popping Randolph. It was ironic that the day after the sub-district seedings were announced, with Catholic topping the six-team tournament, the Lady Warriors, who were seeded second, made a point for the top spot by beating the Lady Knights 46-44 on Feb. 10 on the Crofton court.
