04/25/2008: "3C's April Meeting Minutes"
The minutes from last night's meeting are attached. Thank you all for your continued support and participation in our club. Enthusiasm is growing for our group, and I'm happy to say that we had over 20 people at last night's meeting, including two new faces. We know that not everyone can make it to the meetings, but your involvement outside meetings is greatly appreciated. Please encourage your friends to get involved. Community participation in any form is vital to the life of the Crofton area.
Updates and Reminders:
Concern was expressed at the February Mixer at the Argo about the name of our group. In March, a committee was formed to address these concerns and to come up with name suggestions for a vote in April. The suggested names were: Crofton Community Club; Crofton Area Community Club; Crofton Chamber and Community; Crofton Commerce and Community
The committee also came up with some motto suggestions for advertising (t-shirts, sweatshirts, webpage, etc).
Businesses and People Teaming Together; Getting Everyone Involved; Striving for the future of Crofton. - Be Part of It.; Developing Community and Commerce for the Future of Crofton. - Be Part of It.
After a vote of members (via email and silent vote at the meeting), the name remains Crofton Community Club, and the motto is Striving for the future of Crofton - Be Part of It. Thank you to the committee for taking on this issue and helping us to reach an agreeable decision.
Reminders:
*Saturday, May 3rd - maintenance and clean-up of the plants on the retaining wall at the east side of the elementary school with Modern Woodmen of America. Meet there at 9:00am. After that, we will do some maintenance of the plants surrounding the 3 welcome signs at the entrances of town. Bring gloves and small garden tools (hoes, pruners, trimmers, etc). If you are interested in helping (City Beautification), please contact me.
*Some people have expressed interest in starting a gardening committee to meet from time to time to take care of different areas of plants and trees around the city (city signs, baseball field, park, school, etc). It's a great way to improve the look of the city while getting fresh air and exercise. If you are interested in being on that committee, please contact me.
*Fundraising continues for the Corner Beautification Project (2nd & W Harold St Intersection). If you would like to assist in any way, please contact Pam Berendsen. We will apply for a grant from Knox County to help finance the project.
*City-Wide Rummage Sale and Car Show will be held on Saturday, August 23rd. Michael Guenther and Doyle & Joyce Stevens will chair the car show. If you are interested in chairing the rummage sale, please contact me. We have a list of people interested in helping with the rummage sale and car show.
