01/24/2007: "FCCLA students earn top awards, qualify for state STAR contest"


The Crofton FCCLA chapter and its members brought home a bushel of awards from the District STAR contest, held Wednesday, Jan. 17 in Wayne.
A number of groups and individuals earned berths in the state competition, which will be held in conjunction with the annual state FCCLA convention in Lincoln this spring. Crofton’s chapter advisor is Peggy Anderson.

Crofton had qualfiers in five events. Melissa Olson and Jenna Guenther took top gold and qualified for state with their Family Challenges entry in the junior division. Lacey Wendte and Rachel Steffen took top gold and qualified for state with their entry in Health and Wellness in the junior division. Amanda Janssen and Sara Kohles won top gold and qualified for state with their Illustrated Talk in the junior division. Alison Hoffman was a top gold winner and state qualifier in the Parlimentary Procedure Test in the junior division and Kohles was right behind with the Top Silver medal and a state berth in the same event.
Winning gold medals in the Wayne event were: Karley Boecker and Rachel Bollich, in the junior division of Consumer Issues, and Hoffman and Kristen Steffen, with their entry in Health and Wellness in the junior division.
Kelsey Oltmanns and Stacey Mueller earned a silver medal for ther junior division entry in Health and Wellness. And the senior parlimentary procedure team consisting of Hoffman, Oltmanns, Wendte, Kohles, Janssen, Matt Schroeder and Nathan Porras, won a silver medal.
